We did not get lost on the way to the airport (we went around a round-a-bout once, just once)

Phil is exaggerating about getting lost to the gate, this did not happen.

Wrong train to the client - this was one of those I was following you, but I was following you scenarios. Not my fault.

Getting lost looking for the client - Google maps on an iPhone without signal just doesn't work.

Getting lost looking for the hotel - Bing maps (on a Windows phone may I add) sent us to the completely wrong place. But I might also add, I managed to get us to where it was telling us to go without a hitch (may have been through the Red Light District but that wasn't such a bad thing!)

That's my story. I'm sticking to it.

Was a great trip (quite literally in Phil's case)!

Re When the Planner becomes the curator of good stuff by Sandra Cubacub

Great Post. As you say, Planners need to unchain themselves from their desks (up in their ivory towers) and get out there; interact with brands to truly understand how to engage with them at a deeper level and what it is their consumers want. Nowadays, Planners are expected to not just be really good at being creative solvers but they should also be doers; taking action and working collaboratively with the creatives, technical guys, clients etc. to put all the pieces together well. What's great about this is that it almost blurs the lines between creativity and strategy. So rather than one single strategy sitting above and leading the creative work, it should be about having really good solutions that can weave itself nicely into the creative - whatever the medium. I do believe the two should sit hand-in hand and, where the process usually always starts with the Planner, collaboration as well as curiosity are key.
